- 不直接与读者说话(例外:第46章末 “Be that as it may”——唯一的元评论)
(Omniscient Narration)
Mr. Bennet was so odd a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour,
reserve, and caprice, that the experience of three-and-twenty years had
been insufficient to make his wife understand his character.”(第1章)
(Limited Point of View)
例:“Elizabeth was surprised, but said not a word.”(第32章)
- 第6章:达西视角(“He began to wish to know more of her”)
- 第12章:达西视角(“Elizabeth had been at Netherfield long enough”)
- 第22章:夏洛特视角(“Charlotte herself was tolerably composed”)
- 第44章末:嘉丁纳夫妇视角(“it was evident that he was very much in love”)
How despicably have I acted! I, who have prided myself on my
discernment!”(第36章)
分析:
- “How despicably have I acted!”
- “she grew absolutely ashamed of herself”(叙述者)→
“Of neither Darcy nor Wickham could she think...”
“How despicably have I acted!”(伊丽莎白的直接思想)
- “she felt” / “she thought” 之后继续保持人物语气
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 第1章 | 班纳特太太 | “The business of her life was to get her daughters married” | 叙述者概括,也反映太太的自我认识 | 中 |
Darcy had at first scarcely allowed her to be pretty” | 用达西的语气呈现其内心;“allowed” = 由自己许可 | 高 |
| 第6章 | 伊丽莎白 | “Of this she was perfectly unaware: to her he was only the man who...”
| 第8章 | 伊丽莎白 | “Elizabeth was so much caught by what passed, as to leave her very little attention for her book” | 滑入伊丽莎白视角 | 中 |
| 第10章 | 达西 | “He really believed that, were it not for the inferiority of her connections, he should be in some danger” | 达西内心;“danger” 是他的选词 | 高 |
| 第12章 | 达西 | “Elizabeth had been at Netherfield long enough. She attracted him more than he liked” | 少见的达西视角段落 | 高 |
| 第15章 | 柯林斯 | “He thought too well of himself to comprehend on what motive his cousin could refuse him” | 叙述者引用柯林斯的自负 | 中 |
| 第22章 | 夏洛特 | “Without thinking highly either of men or of matrimony, marriage had always been her object” | 叙述者传达其冷静的自我分析 | 高 |
| 第24章 | 伊丽莎白 | “she could not think without anger... that easiness of temper, that want of proper resolution” | 对宾利的批评混入叙述者语气 | 中 |
| 第26章 | 伊丽莎白 | “Her heart had been but slightly touched, and her vanity was satisfied” | 叙述者引用其自我合理化——反讽 | 高 |
| 第33章 | 伊丽莎白 | “It distressed her a little, and she was quite glad to find herself at the gate” | 伊丽莎白的不适 | 低 |
| 第34章 | 伊丽莎白 | “She knew not how to support herself, and, from actual weakness, sat down and cried” | 情感爆发——叙述者与人物几乎完全融合 | 高 |
| 第36章 | 伊丽莎白 | “How despicably have I acted!... Till this moment, I never knew myself.”
| 第42章 | 伊丽莎白 | “She had always seen it with pain... never been so fully aware of the evils” | 以成熟语气反思父母婚姻 | 中 |
| 第43章 | 伊丽莎白 | “And of this place, thought she, I might have been mistress!”
| 第43章 | 伊丽莎白 | “This was a lucky recollection—it saved her from something like regret” | “something like regret” = FID;伊丽莎白自我安慰 | 高 |
| 第44章 | 伊丽莎白 | “She respected, she esteemed, she was grateful to him, she felt a real interest in his welfare” | 情感分析的FID;叙述者代行其自我分析 | 高 |
| 第46章 | 伊丽莎白 | “never had she so honestly felt that she could have loved him, as now, when all love must be vain” | 认识爱情的FID;叙述观察+人物情感 | 最高 |
| 第50章 | 伊丽莎白 | “She began now to comprehend that he was exactly the man who, in disposition and talents, would most suit her” | 完整爱情认识的FID | 高 |
| 第50章 | 伊丽莎白 | “What a triumph for him, as she often thought, could he know that the proposals which she had proudly spurned...” | “as she often thought” 明示转入FID | 中 |
| 第61章 | 叙述者(反讽) | “Happy for all her maternal feelings was the day on which Mrs. Bennet got rid of her two most deserving daughters” | 叙述者引用并讥讽班纳特太太的视角 | 高 |
模式A:“fancied” / “imagined” / “flattered herself”——误判信号
Bennet, who fancied she had gained a complete victory” | 班纳特太太 | 其实是加深达西轻蔑的失败 |
| 第17章 | “Mr. Collins might never make the offer, and, till he did, it was useless to quarrel” | 伊丽莎白 | 柯林斯一定会求婚 |
| 第19章 | “He had fully proposed being engaged by Wickham” | 伊丽莎白 | 威克姆不会来 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 第1章 | “The business of her life” | 班纳特太太的婚姻计划 | 用经营术语 “business” 讥讽 |
| 第15章 | “This was his plan of amends—of atonement—for inheriting” | 柯林斯求婚的动机 | 用宗教词 “atonement”(赎罪)讥讽 |
| 第22章 | “the pure and disinterested desire of an establishment” | 夏洛特结婚的动机 | “纯洁而无私” 并非虚假——这本身就是反讽 |
| “She could not be insensible to the compliment” |
She was a woman of mean understanding” |
| “she felt” / “it seemed to her” | 人物 → 叙述者的转换 | “Elizabeth felt that they had entirely mistaken his character” |
(FID) | “How despicably have I acted!” |
| “perhaps” / “it is possible” | 叙述者的反讽式保留 | “Perhaps he had been civil only because he felt himself at ease” |
案例1:第43章 “to be mistress of Pemberley might be something!”
- 翻译: 处理为伊丽莎白坦率的惊叹,再以随后的自我修正 “But no—that could never be” 保持平衡。
案例2:第44章 “it was evident that he was very much in love with her”
案例3:第50章 “no such happy marriage could now teach the admiring multitude what connubial felicity really was”
“If gratitude and esteem are good foundations of affection, Elizabeth's change of sentiment will be neither improbable nor faulty. But if otherwise, if the regard springing from such sources is unreasonable or unnatural, in comparison of what is so often described as arising on a first interview with its object, and even before two words have been exchanged, nothing can be said in her defence, except that she had given somewhat of a trial to the latter method, in her partiality for Wickham, and that its ill success might, perhaps, authorize her to seek the other less interesting mode of attachment.”
- 提及威克姆: “her partiality for Wickham” 被作为**一见钟情(latter method)**的失败案例
